About
Steven Hunter Packwood, born in West Palm Beach, Florida, is an architect licensed in Florida and Georgia who designed both residential and commercial projects. Inspired by a drafting class he took his last year in high school, he earned his Bachelor’s in Building Construction from the University of Florida in 1968, followed by a Bachelor’s of Architecture at University of Florida in 1972. Steve joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves in January 1964 and served for six years. He settled in West Palm Beach, Florida, his hometown, working at architecture firms such as Schwab and Twitty, and Peacock & Lewis, before opening his own firm, Steven H. Packwood Architect, in the mid 1970’s along with his contractor business Design Build One. Many of the modern homes he designed can be seen on S. Flagler Drive in West Palm Beach, along the intercoastal waterway overlooking the island of Palm Beach.
A residence he designed in Stuart, Florida was recognized with a National Plywood Association award and featured in the prominent architecture magazines in 1975. And his office building remodel in Jacksonville, FL for Faver Gray won a Florida Building Contractors’ award in the early 2000s.
Since the late 1980’s, he and his wife Cathy live in the Atlanta area, near their two children and two grandchildren.
